Mine Machinery: Komatsu PC7000
In this Mine Machinery series of stories, we are taking a closer look at pieces of equipment that keep the buckets full, trucks loaded and power stations firing out of our Callide Mine. Introducing our biggest digger, the epic Komatsu PC7000!
The PC7000 is a class-leading 700t excavator, available in both face shovel and backhoe configurations, which shifts a serious amount of dirt with its huge 36 cubic metre bucket.
At the heart of the PC7000 are two Tier 2-rated 16-cylinder diesel engines, producing a total of 3350hp, and a simplified electrical system for improved reliability and reduced maintenance.
This digger matches perfectly with our Komatsu 930E dump trucks, with their 300-tonne payload, offering fast load times, high breakout force and excellent stability.
Breakout force is rated at a massive 1671kN and hydraulic flow is regulated by Komatsu’s Hydropilot system, ensuring smooth hydraulic response and a simplified system layout with a reduced number of components.
Safety is a big factor when it comes to our mine machinery, and the PC7000 has all the latest Komatsu technology onboard like KOMTRAX Plus machine monitoring system, Komvision birds-eye-view, integrated Argus payload meter and an emergency escape system.
