Guests enjoy going behind-the-scenes at the Callide Mine Family Day

More than 800 invited guests of all ages enjoyed a fun day out at the Callide Mine Family Day on Saturday 30 July 2022.

Batchfire Resources welcomed our employees’ family and friends to the event, as well as our Callide Valley neighbours, industry partners and local suppliers.

Our team hosted a variety of family friendly activities that showcased our mining operations and provided a rare opportunity to see behind-the-scenes at the Callide Mine.

Lots for children to enjoy

It’s official – kids love to explore huge mining equipment!

One of the Family Day highlights was seeing amazed children climb onto machines including a new Caterpillar 994K loader, while under the careful supervision of our team.

Bus trips took groups on a tour of areas including Trap Gully, allowing our mining parents to show their kids exactly what mum or dad’s work looks like.

The younger guests were delighted by the lolly drops while the ice cream van, fairy floss and sausage sizzle were also popular.

There was plenty more for children to enjoy including facepainting, colouring and meeting characters including Elsa, Zuma from Paw Patrol and a Minion.

Technology and hardware demonstrations

The Family Day also provided a unique opportunity for visitors to experience some of the technology and hardware that is central to our operations.

Our Emergency Response Team performed truck rescue simulations, while drone flight demonstrations by our Geology department and screenings of blasting videos by our Technical Services team were popular with guests of all ages.

Having our employees on hand to provide more information and answer questions ensured that the Open Day was an educational experience as well as a fun day out.
