Batchfire Resources appoints new General Manager / Site Senior Executive, Callide Mine

Batchfire Resources welcomes David Thomasson to the position of General Manager and Site Senior Executive of Callide Mine.

David will be responsible for the health and safety of all coal mine works at Batchfire’s Callide Mine along with its operational performance. He will also hold the statutory appointment of Site Senior Executive (SSE).

David started his career as a surveyor before he chose to move into mining engineering. He has extensive resources sector experience having worked across the Bowen Basin in both open cut and underground coal mines for the past 26 years.

 

 

“I feel privileged to take on the leadership of the Callide Mine and SSE responsibilities,” David said. “As General Manager I will deliver Batchfire’s unwavering commitment to ensuring a safe workplace.

“It is my undertaking to ensure that every person who enters the mine site is not exposed to an unacceptable level of risk.

“All members of the entire Batchfire team have obligations to challenge one another and our behaviours to ensure everyone returns home safely to our families. I take great satisfaction in empowering personnel to discover innovative solutions to improve safety.”

As General Manager, David recognises the need to operate within an economic climate that requires optimized production efficiencies.

“This mine provides financial security for all that come here to work, allowing us all to enjoy life in our community with family and friends,” he said.

“It is up to us all to ensure it remains a viable operation into the future, so I look forward to working with the entire Batchfire team as we take this journey together.”
